With funding from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the She Leads Project is a five-year (2021-2025) strategic initiative of Plan International Netherlands, Defence for Children – ECPAT the Netherlands (DCI-ECPAT), African Women’s Development and Communication Network (FEMNET), and Terre des Hommes the Netherlands (TdH). The project is implemented in Ghana, together with eight (8) other African countries; Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Jordan, Lebanon, Mali, Liberia and Sierra Leone
The main objective of the project is to increase sustained influence of girls and young women (GYW) on decision-making and the transformation of gender norms in formal and informal institutions
The consortium envisages achieving this objective by working through three interrelated domains:
- Social-Cultural Domain: Support by increased acceptance of positive social gender norms
- Civil Society Domain: Enhancement of collective action of girls and young women in a gender-responsive civil
- Institutional Domain: Enabling meaningful participation of girls and young women in decision-making by political institutions
Women Aspire Network is a sub grantee from FEMNET it is implementing the project in 2 districts in the Central region. Namely Komenda Edina Eguafo Abream (KEEA) and Abura Asebu Kwamankese District (AAK)
